About Start to Finish Builders

First of all, thank you for visiting the Start To Finish Builders website. There are many builders out there and I appreciate you taking the time to learn a little bit about our company and what we can do for you.

John grew up on a farm/ranch in South Dakota where he learned the value of hard work, getting up early and getting things done right the first time. He started working for builders in his late teens, became a partner in a construction company in Brainerd, MN and soon took over the company. John has done everything from laying block to installing trim on starter homes to executive homes. No one ever guesses this correctly, but John has his master’s degree and brings a wealth of knowledge to every project and his ability to communicate clearly with clients helps the projects run smoothly.

Karen grew up in the suburbs of Minneapolis and northern MN and has always enjoyed design and decorating. She has a degree in nursing but has a passion for making client's interior design dreams come true and has made that her full time career. It offers much more flexibility and less nights and weekends that she is away from her family. Karen is happy to set up and accompany clients to product choice appointments from plumbing and lighting fixtures, countertops and flooring to furniture and décor decisions. At home, you can find her browsing Pinterest gathering ideas for clients and upcoming projects.

In August of 2013, our family decided to move to Brandon, SD to be closer to John's family after living in MN for over 20 years. Starting a new construction company is always a challenge but we have been blessed with fantastic clients, a supportive community and an area with sustainable construction projects.

Last but not least, we have 3 amazing children, Kelsey, Hannah and Brady. They are go –getters and have made us extremely proud! You may see them on the job site helping dad or cleaning up after a busy week.
